PBR @ Cowboys Stadium

In case you aren't family with what "PBR" means: Professional Bull Riding. We went to the "Iron Cowboy Invitational" on Saturday night at the new Cowboys Stadium. Covenant (my alma mater) brought their business club out here for a networking trip to meet with some area businesses (side note: while I'm very excited that Covenant is doing this, I'm a bit annoyed. When I was in the business club, we did NOTHING like this. I'm happy for them though...). Anyway, the assistant director of alumni contacted local alum to see if any of us wanted to come with them to this event. We decided to take William and leave the little guy at home. We knew it'd be a late night out, and Hudson loves his sleep.

William was very excited to wear his new shirt to something like BULL RIDING. Also, it's a double meaning because William is our "bull headed" child!

Cowboys Stadium and the PBR pulled out all the stops. They poured gasoline on the dirt on both sides of the arena, spelling PBR, then they lit it on fire! And what's an event at the Stadium without fireworks? It was very cool, and William loved every minute of it.

Our seats were decent, but I got a better pic of the 70yd TV! 

We watched the top 24 bull riders in the world. One word: CRAZY! Why anyone would want to do this to themselves is beyond me. But I'm happy to come and watch. This competition was bracket style, so the winner would end up having 5 rides! Needless to say, it was a long night. We left by 10:30, and they were only finishing up the 2nd round!

A funny story: we were running a bit late to the stadium. We needed to be there at 6:30, and we knew we'd have to walk nearly a mile from the parking lot to the stadium. While we were planning to stop at Panera and eat dinner, we just didn't have time. So, we ran through the drive-thru at Braums and ate in the car.  William was very excited. While he was eating, he said "mommy, this is SUCH a nice dinner." Wow. I tried not to take it as an insult to my cooking!

It was a fun night with the Covenant Business Club, and a fun night with just William. We so rarely get time with JUST William, so it was nice to have a mommy/daddy night with him.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr: UPDATED

Something happened last night, and I'm not sure what it was. We woke up to a downstairs with a temperature of 58 degrees! I wondered why my pillow felt like it had been in the freezer for awhile.

The good news is that the upstairs heater seems to be working, so I guess we'll be spending our day up there...

The bad news is that it's probably going to be a big fat bill to get it fixed since having a repairman of any sort usually costs at least $75 just to come LOOK at the darned thing.

If you need me, I'll be under the covers.

The embarrassing news: I accidentally shut off the heat yesterday when I was getting something down from the attic. Thankfully, my dad was the one to discover it, so I didn't have to pay a repair man to embarrass me.

My house is now sitting at a nice 72 degrees!

Snow Day!

There was a 70% chance of snow today, but I doubt the forecasters could have predicted what we got. We woke up to about 2 inches on the ground, and it has not stopped POURING snow since. I'm guessing there's 6-8 inches and there are no signs of it stopping. (Yes, we still live in Texas).

To top off the snow experience, I made some yummy snow ice cream. We had a nice little snack (ok, so it was pre-dinner) of hot chocolate and snow ice cream. What a fun day!!!

FOUR!

I cannot even begin to tell you how weird it is for me to have a 4 year old. I still feel like college was last year!  William was very excited about turning 4. First, he was glad to finally be 4 like Keira. Second, he was now allowed to start chewing gum. He's been looking forward to this for MONTHS. We tried gum about 6 months ago, but that didn't go so well, so I told him that he had to be 4.  Dave's mom got him a mini-bubblegum machine for Christmas, so he's been eye balling it in the pantry ever since.

He blew out all 4 candles in 1 breath!

He wanted a horse cake, so his wish was my command!

a new scooter from Grandma Dennison. He was actually pretty good on it too. Now we just need the weather to warm up so that he can ride it to the park!

New York City in a bag-- from Uncle Trent and Aunt Paige. It's a bunch of wooden blocks in the shape of NYC buildings, and you can line them up to look like the NYC skyline. Very cool. Very unique.

an ant farm from Uncle Christian and Aunt Tasha! It's a space age ant farm-- so instead of sand, they tunnel through this really cool blue gel stuff. Apparently, it's filled with minerals, etc for the ants. The ants arrived in the mail today, and they should start tunneling in 24-48 hours. That will be for a post on it's own!

SuperStructs! William discovered these from his friend Dalton. They are sort of like Tinker Toys, and they're super cool. They were the hit of the evening.

We also got William a totally awesome toolbench, but I've yet to take a picture of it. And Mimi and Papa's gift hasn't arrived in the mail yet (I'm probably most excited about this one!). I guess this is just the birthday that keeps on giving.
