Well, I'm skipping ahead past end-of-school year activities (mostly because there are very few pics to show for it), to get to our fun mini-vacation and big vacations!
One week after school got out, we headed to Oklahoma for our annual camping trip at my parent's house with friends. William and Hudson left a few days early to take a detour with my parents to go see their cousins in Houston, and then headed straight to OK from there. Crew and I headed up on Thursday. We ended up getting there only about 45 minutes after my parents and the big boys. But, a lot can happen in 45 minutes!
My dad has bought each of the boys a pocket knife. The knife is kept in Oklahoma, and is only used under strict supervision. Well, as soon as they got there, they both made a bee-line for their pocket knives. As my parents were still unloading the truck, they gave strict instructions to NOT open the knives until Papa was finished and could supervise. William, too excited to heed the advice, proceeded to "whittle" a stick, and consequently, also "whittled" a hunk out of his leg:
8 stitches later, and we are ready to rock-n-roll:
After the drama of yet ANOTHER Dennison ER visit, we ate dinner, and went to visit my grandma and take her for some ice cream.
My grandma's first selfie!
Friday afternoon all of our friends arrived, and after dinner we headed to Kiddie Park. Sadly, William and Hudson have outgrown quite a few of the rides. Thankfully, some of them are still fun for them, but now it's Crew's turn to thoroughly enjoy the park.
I absolutely love taking my kids to this little rinky-dink amusement park. I have such fond memories coming here as a child, and now my kids get to enjoy the same rides.
We continued our weekend with some late night lightning bug hunting, s'mores, camping, a bit of rain, riding the cruiser around the property, a huge family game of kickball, golf, swimming at the country club, and generally just enjoying spending time with our friends.
What a great weekend! We are already looking forward to next year.
